What is Untap?
Untap is a semi-annual MTG Cube event series managed and attended by members of the Toronto MTG Cubers Discord! We are a passionate group of Magic: The Gathering™ players who play what? Cube!
The spring event will be hosted on Saturday, January 24th, 2026 at Kung Fu Tea @ Yonge and Wellesley and will feature 9 different Cubes provided by the community. It’s a full-day event (from 12PM-11PM) with an hour break for dinner.
Each ticket costs $25 CAD; this includes entry to play in 2 different Cube drafts (Cube preference selected through Hedron Network). There will be 5×8-person pods with a total of 6 rounds of Swiss and a cut to Top-8, where players will battle it out for various prizes depending on standings(listed below)!
Event Detail Summary
Date
Saturday January 24th, 2026 (24/01/2026)
Location
Kung Fu Tea on Wellesley
584 Yonge St.
Toronto, ON
The space is right on the corner of Yonge & Wellesley. It’s right across from Wellesley Station and a short walking distance from Bloor-Yonge Station or the 506 streetcar.
Event Structure
Players will be organized into pods for each draft slot using the Cube tournament software Hedron Network. All judging and further organization will be handled by our floor Judge with help from the other TO(s).
For the psychos who want to keep Cubing after the main events, feel free to stick around, and casual drafts will be running until close.
Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets can be bought through our Tixtree for $25 CAD. Purchasing a ticket will also RSVP you for the event; if you wish to cancel at any time, please do so as early as possible to open the slot up for another person. Unfortunately, due to the timing of the event, refunds will not be provided.
If you miss out on buying a ticket, don’t fret! Tixtree offers automatic waitlisting, so if there are any cancellations, you’ll be contacted.

- At the door, you will be entered into a raffle to win a F2F Lorwyn Eclipsed: Deluxe Commander Weekend Pass donated by Caro.

Parking
The venue is in the downtown core, so it is recommended, if you’re able, to take public transit (TTC). However, there is a car park @ 15 Wellesley St E if you need parking. Street parking is also an option, but it is not always available. If you run into any issues trying to park, please reach out to Gray at untapcube@gmail.com.
The Cubes
Cubes will be voted on by the community and will be in the following categories: Vintage, Restriction, Gimmick and Open. If you would be interested in potentially having your Cube featured at the event, please fill out the form here.

Pink Sleeves
Enjoy classic Magic games with iconic cards and minimal barrier to entry. There’s efficient interaction, plentiful fixing, and inviting build arounds. Designed to be accessible to newer players without sacrificing what makes Magic great.

15 Gods
A theme 1st experience on the Plane of theros. This non singleton cube aims to make each drafter feel like they got one of the best Theros draft decks of all time featuring all 15 gods and an array of mythical creatures heroes and monsters.

Keruga Cube
All nonland spells cost at least 3 mana, however the key is to cheat! (Adventure, Convoke, Warp, Evoke, Delve, etc.).

Volcano Manor
Desert bar cube designed with heavy color imbalances and a heavy emphasis on land destruction.

Degen Shit
DegenShit is an extremely high powered cube with the goal of running the most powerful cards in magic, even if they’re not legal in any format or from weird one-off products. Nothing is off-limits, which encourages whacky and powerful gameplay.

Modern (8th-WAR) Cube
This is a 360-card cube built only using cards released in standard sets from Eighth Edition to War of the Spark.

Pebble’s Pippy Peasant Cube
This is a peasant cube that attempts to solve the issues prevalent with peasant environments by heavily restricting mana fixing and sources of card advantage. 1-2 colour decks are heavily incentivized and decks should be focused on enacting a fair strategy with a plan on how to end the game.

The Dandy Cube
The Dandy cube is a fair, approachable cube with custom cards which avoids many of the less palatable decisions WotC has made over the years.

Retro Powered Vintage Cube
TThis is a Retro Vintage Cube – it currently goes up to Hour of Devastation (July 2017), with a minor exception for the half cycle of Talismans.
